Eastenders Repertory Company presents Moony's Kid Don't Cry Part of Series A of Eight by Tenn.
During his junior year at the University of Missouri 1931-32, Williams entered a short piece entitled Hot Milk at Three in the Morning and took 13th place in a writing contest. Reworked and renamed Moony’s Kid Don’t Cry (1935-36), he submitted it, along with several other one-act plays, under the collective title American Blues to the Group Theatre in New York. He won what was to him the enormous sum of $100.00. This 'kitchen sink' drama, obviously O’Neill-influenced, concerns a Depression-era laborer trapped with whining baby and nagging wife who longs for his former life as a logger in the forests of the north. |
