Eastenders Repertory Company presents Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act
Part of Series B of 100 Years of Political Theatre.

First produced in Cape Town South Africa, in 1972, with a subsequent production at the Royal Court Theatre, London, Fugard's one-act is a powerful indictment of apartheid and South Africa's anti-miscegenation laws. The play tells the story of two lovers, a white woman and a "coloured" man, who are caught and charged under the immorality act, a law prohibiting interracial sexual relations. This work, together with Sizwe Bansi is Dead and The Island, were published jointly as The Statement Plays.
