Eastenders Repertory Company presents The Travelling Companion
Part of Series C of Eight by Tenn.

Written c. 1980/81, but not produced until 1996, a dualogue set in a New York City hotel room between an aging gentleman and his companion, a young hustler. In his later years, Williams fearlessly used his personal story in his work. The actor Jon Uker was Williams' occasional paid traveling companion during the playwright’s last years. Uker was essentially paid to help keep him alive, and to stave off his severe debilitating loneliness. Uker was, in fact, in Williams's suite at the Hotel Élysée the night he died. The Travelling Companion was first published in the now defunct gay periodical Christopher Street and has yet to be anthologized.
